177th Semi-Annual General Conference

Chantelle and I decided to meet outside the dorms and go watch conference in the Taylor together. (all of the other roomies are too lazy and watched it at home)
first of all i'm sitting in the living room waiting for it to be time to leave (because somehow i always wake up way too early and have a little time to just sit and do nothing)

and all of our curtains are closed. I'm sitting there, you know, just thinking and i'm wondering "hey i wonder if its raining" (cause it was yesterday)

and i kind of peer through the curtain and i see something, but its no rain.
ITS SNOWING!!
and big flakes too! and its coming down hard. and the best part... ITS STICKING!!

so that automatically just put a smile on my face.

So we're watching conference and its amazing, too bad i havent been that dedicated to actually listening all the previous years. First Elder Henry B. Eyering was called into the first presidency, because of the passing away of Elder James E. Faust. Which is sad but neat that Elder Eyering was called.

The talks were going good and then all of a sudden it cuts out.

Apparently they were expecting this because there was some sort of satellite eclipse. so they tell us we can wait 10 minutes or go home. we waited and still no good. then they tell us they set up cable in one of the classrooms. so we all move into this huge lecture room and watch it. well because of the snow storm and all, this cuts outs periodically. the funniest part was a banner across the bottom from the news station: "BREAKING NEWS blah blah blah County and Sheriff Station advise that everyone stay indoors because of trees crashing to the ground, hazardous road conditions, and power lines down"

i just loved the phrasing "because of trees crashing down" like i'm picturing just walking down the sidewalk and huge trees just falling like dominos. haha.

anyways so it gets to President Monson's talk and we're all jazzed because who doesn't get excited when he's about to talk? But it cuts in and out his whole talk. it was ridiculous. he'd say "then i said to her..." cuts out. "and then we'd..." cuts out. so i'll have to wait for the ensign on that one.

but what turned into an inconvenience turned into a pretty neat experience. the final hymn was being sung and it kept cutting out, so the whole classroom full of people (at least 100 ppl) started singing. So we'd be singing with the Mo Tab choir then it'd cut out and we'd sing louder and then the choir would join back in. It was really neat.

Then Chelsea had some friends from BYU come down for the weekend so in between sessions we went to Craigo's, which is pretty much FANTASTIC. the only downside is these girls are kind of air-y and snotty. like they're fun they just complained the whole time. like this girl that goes to BYU hates it and just complained. and they were super skinny and wore really cute clothes (i know right, i'm a snot) but they would just stair at me and erin sometimes like there was something wrong with us.

but its such good gourmet pizza it made up for the company. we got the buffet and ate soo much but it was soo good. i had this kind that had bacon, pineapple, and a white sauce that was my favorite.
Then we went back and i met chantelle back at the Taylor for the afternoon session. By far best talk was Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. It was one of those that you can't just read to feel the power of that talk. If you missed it, go back and watch it, cause mom told me you guy's recorded it. I love hearing Elder Uchtdorf talk too. There was some other really good ones.

But i am so thankful i could be here to listen to conference. And its throwing me off because today felt like sunday.. but then tomorrow's sunday too. but i love it all the same.

oh and this pretty much made my day

(there were 3 other snowmen in our courtyard, one was a snowman cat and mouse, they were actually really good but this one wins BY far)

yea, that's right. its a snow temple (i think rexburg to be exact)
(you can't see but it actually says 'House of the Lord' on the front)
:)
oh byu-idaho kids... you gotta love em

Your Mom and I met some great people on the cruise-all of them Mormon and we had the best time with them. Grandma and Grandpa say hi and they hope that you are doing well. How are you liking it? I'll check up on your blog and see how you are doing occasionally_enjoy your amazing experience!
